"Passion is the bridge that takes you from pain to change"
It's difficult to develop a passion for a subject like material sciences. until my third year of my college, I was not sure why I was pursuing my carrer in this field with so limited scope of applications, to explore the possibilities I started participating in different national-level competitions and even got positive results which improved my confidence towards material science, then came Jan 2022 when I heard about the prestigious NEI IdeaFactory competition which is held every year.
"Sometimes things seem impossible until it's done"
In the beginning, when the topic was revealed my confidence was boosted because was related to my branch subject.
It was a nice experience and as the competition progressed the stages became more challenging. NEI Idea Factory season 7 required a commitment of almost 8 months. This season was conducted in online mode and the main challenge was the presentation part.
Idea Factory Season 7 was an enriching experience for us. We got an opportunity to work on an interesting problem statement under the guidance of an adept and supportive Mentor Mr. Amit Kumar.
The guidance provided by the mentors helped us a lot. We together as a team moved forward by rectifying our mistakes, eliminating the issues, and we came up with a good solution with the feedback, guidance, and support provided throughout the journey.
Learned about working as a team and that brainstorming sessions are so valuable in any team. Got a first hand experience of working in a professional environment and around such immensely intellectual individuals of NBC Bearings including their top management.
Learned about how to develop a business model from scratch and how to work with real life problems and solve them efficiently by working as a team and under top notch management.
It was a great experience where we learned about how industries work and working with the mentor provided us the opportunity to get valuable insights. Whole journey made us believe in teamwork and hard work and I'm grateful to the NBC team for organising such an event.
The Sky Is The Limit
The NEI Idea factory Competition is a much-needed effort to encourage and recognise the talent of aspiring engineering students. For me it was not just about the competition, but also a major learning experience.
You can either be a part of history, or you can make history itself.
I vividly remember the day we were leaving the NEI premises after winning IDEA FACTORY SEASON-4. A lot was going on in my mind and I was thinking about the journey ahead. We faced several impediments on our way but we forged ahead with the efforts of our team and our mentor's guidance. However, things took a turn for the worse with the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak and all hopes of the finals taking place were shattered. The NEI was determined to keep up its reputation and ensured that no team lost morale.
"I could either watch it happen or make it happen"
I still remember that day when I was leaving NEI premises after winning IDEA FACTORY SEASON-4. A lot of things were going on in my mind and a lot of new ideas were coming too.
After getting the information about the season 5 through LinkedIn and other sources. It felt as if a sleeping lion woke up again. I felt like winning it again, I wanted to feel that joy again. But this time the process and flow was a bit big and a bit scary too. Several challenges were there from a quiz, to idea selection and to filtering.
I am currently pursuing my Btech from JECRC University in specialization with mechanical engineering (final year). I am a sort of typical engineering candidate who love to explore the opportunities and the Idea Factory is among the massive one which gave me the entirely different perspective of how things work in the industries.
I came to know about National Engineering Industries’ Idea Factory Contest Season 4 when I was scrolling down my LinkedIn profile (since I already followed NEI on LinkedIn). The theme of the contest was somewhat related to the mechanical domain, and I being from electronics background tried my level best to solve the given problem statement via my knowledge of electronics and some basic understanding of mechanical engineering.
I would like to thanks NBC Bearings for giving us the opportunity to participate in NEI IDEA FACTORY 2k20. It was a whole new and an amazing experience to participate in the competetion.
A lot of things stumbled us while doing our project,but we came all through them and won the 1st runnerup prize.We learnt a lot of new things about Artificial Intelligence and also about the NBC Bearing company.
I would like to thanks NBC Bearings for giving us the opportunity to participate in NEI IDEA FACTORY 2k20. The whole journey of this competition was challenging as well as amazing and it was a wonderful experience for me as a participant as well as a first runner up.

We learnt my things related to AI throughout this competition. We faced my difficult during competition but at the end our hard work pay off and we ended up securing 1st runner- up position.
NEI idea factory is a well designed competition which along a span of 8 months gave an exposure to the real time challenges faced by such well performing industries and then gave me a chance to introspect and find the best way out.It was a journey where I got an opportunity to drive through the ideation phase, brainstorming phase and the obstacles faced while executing the ideas.
I am currently pursuing my Btech from RGPV University in specialization with mechanical engineering. I am a type of student who wants to explore the opportunities and to work on them as best as i can, and one fine day we got to heard about NEI IDEA FACTORY which is totally a massive one among the various competitions which held across the country and thus it provides a entirely different perspective of how things work in industries.
It was really an amazing journey that started with the question, “ How we can implement Artificial Intelligence in the bearing Industry ?”. We have learned so many new things in the field of AI as well as in the field on Bearings, It was like connecting mechanical engineering with artificial intelligence, When I listened that our idea has been selected, I was very happy and one of my team members just jumped off his chair
The NEI IDEA FACTORY contest is for young budding engineers across India. The contest aims for the practical application of learning in designing innovative solutions to the case study raised by us. It helps in widening the horizon & understand the real problems faced by industries. I appreciate the overwhelming efforts taken by each participant in all the last seasons making idea factory a great success.
I look forward to a huge participation this year also.
The NEI Idea factory is a platform created for young engineers to get a peek into read world industrial problem. The platform enables to get innovative mind together to solve a unique problem and use their skills for implement solutions. I have been engaged with NEI Idea factory for last two years and it has been a tremendous learning for the organization to listen and hear various perspective. This is one activity I look forward to participate every year.
